The RYA Coastal/Offshore Yachtmaster Theory Course is is an advanced course to give confidence in navigating longer coastal passages  or as preparation for taking the Coastal Yachtmaster or Offshore Yachtmaster practical exams.  
The RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Theory Course covers:
    Advanced navigation techniques,
    Tidal heights including detailed secondary port calculations
    Tidal Streams
    GPS and chart plotters
    Meteorology
    Passage planning
    Pilotage
    Collision regulations
    Stability
    Safety
The standard course is run over 6 full days at weekends or during the week.  There will be three assessment papers to complete, the first is Passage making, the second is chartwork and the third on the collision regulations. 
All equipment to complete the course will be provided.  You just need to bring a notepad, 2B pencils, a quality eraser and your lunch. Tea and coffee and biscuits are included  
Course Requirements 
RYA Day Skipper theory certificate or equivalent knowledge.
It is advisable to revise the Rules of the Road and chartwork in order to get the most out of the teaching time.
The course normally runs from 0900 to 1730 though this could be flexible to avoid peak traffic in the area.
In order to obtain the Yachtmaster Offshore Practical Certificate you also need to hold the RYA VHF Radio 
Short Range Certificate together with the RYA First Aid certificate.
